French fantasy for schoolchildren

Friday 27 June 2014

Primary schoolchildren will be getting an introduction to both theatre and French next month when a travelling threatre company arrives in the Island from Normandy.

Théâtre du Champ Exquis is putting on a show at the Town Hall on 9 and 10 July which they have created specially for two to eight year-olds.

The show - Et Si / And If – combines storytelling and drama and will be performed in both English and French inside a carefully crafted big top.

Youngsters from seven primary schools will discover a fairytale world where castles appear out of thin air, paper boats travel the seven seas and cities rise and fall.

It’s part of the Arts Centre’s and the Education department’s efforts to strengthen cultural relations with France.

The company will also be putting on a public performance in the Assembly Room at the Town Hall on Thursday 10 July at 4 pm.
