Islanders in need of warming up amid the stormy weather can visit the Royal Square and enjoy one of 40 different varieties of soup while raising much-needed funds for a homeless charity.
The Shelter Trust is inviting islanders to try a "fantastic selection of soups" including butternut squash, carrot and ginger, chicken noodle, and creamy truffled leek and potato as part of its annual event.
The soups will be created by community groups and some of the island’s top hotels and restaurants.
The event, which also features festive music and carol singing by school and island choirs, has to date raised more than £250,000 for the charity – which supports an average of 600 homeless people a year.
Richard Robins, Trustee and Treasurer to Shelter Trust, said: "Each year, we are looking for ways to raise awareness of the important work delivered by the Shelter Trust and I’m excited to announce that this year, as well as serving a fantastic range of soups, we are launching the Shelter Trust Soup Kitchen recipe book which will be on sale at the event.
"Featuring recipes from Shelter Trust chefs, local hotels and restaurants and Trust supporters, the book priced at £5 will make an excellent Christmas present or stocking filler.
"We are grateful to everyone who supported the content, design and print of this book, ensuring every penny raised will go directly to the Shelter Trust. By buying this collection, you’re helping us provide essential meals to those who need them most."
Soup and bread will be on offer from 10:30 to 14:00, and can be purchased for a minimum donation of £3.
The Soup Kitchen is sponsored by LGT Wealth Management and organised by Shelter Trust supporters.
In the run-up to the event, the charity also launched 'The Souper Challenge' which invited individuals of all ages to make a bowl of soup, donate £3 (the cost of a meal), and challenge friends to do the same.
Participants were invited to share their culinary efforts on social media using the #SouperChallenge hashtag.
