Funding helps children put on a show

A local drama group has secured funding ensuring youngsters have a part in celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Local communications provider Sure has agreed to sponsor Stagefright so that it can continue to help children develop a passion for the arts.

The children have been busy rehearsing two productions of stories by Roald Dahl and are taking to the stage at St Luke’s Church Hall theatre this weekend.

Stagefright’s Carole Richardson said: “The funds mean that we have much greater security from a financial perspective, which in turn will help us to reach more people and put on even better shows!

“This year, we’re putting on two productions of stories by Roald Dahl - James and the Giant Peach and The Witches. It is fantastic going into this year’s performances knowing that we will be able to put on even better shows for next year’s 25th anniversary.”

Stagefright is a non-profit organisation which is funded by its subscription fees, most of which are used for the rehearsal rooms and performances.

Sure Jersey's CEO Graham Hughes said: “Stagefright does fantastic work with children in Jersey, helping them grow in confidence whilst learning about the visual and performing arts at the same time. It is a true community group that has been working hard for 25 years and we are very proud at Sure to have been given the opportunity to help Stagefright continue its work.”
