Waves have had to ground its only aircraft until the 22 June, cancelling all of its flights between now and then.
The Cessna aircraft has been "recalled for maintenance off island", and while a spokesperson for Waves said "every attempt" had been made to find a replacement, it was found that nothing comparable was available.
"Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond Waves control, the aircraft has been recalled for maintenance off island and is not scheduled to return until the 22 June," the spokesperson said.
"All customers have been advised of the cancellations and either alternative arrangements have been made on their behalf, travel has been delayed until normal Waves service resumes or refunds have been processed.
"The team at Waves sincerely apologise to the travelling community and their supportive customers."
Waves advised Express that some customers had their flying dates put back until the airline has its aircraft back in its possession, while some were offered alternative arrangements or full refunds.
The company did not comment as to how many passengers had been affected, but the recall occurred earlier this week.
Launched last year, Waves announced in January that it would only be able to provide full aircraft charters after it's ‘on-demand’ service with no scheduled flights was challenged by Blue Islands who called for a judicial review of their competitor's licence. They were eventually able to resume their original operations and fly without restriction after Guernsey's Transport Licensing Authority granted them the necessary route licences between Jersey and Guernsey.
