GUIDE: What's on during the school strikes?

Monday 11 September 2023

Although one of Jersey’s main teaching unions has withdrawn strike plans, two other unions are set to continue with action tomorrow – meaning that some parents may find themselves short of childcare.

However, a number of local organisations have announced activities to keep kids entertained, so Express has compiled a handy list of all those events in one place...

Gaming Sessions

The Jersey Gaming Hub will be running supervised gaming sessions from 08:00-18:00.

These sessions are suitable for gamers aged 7+ and cost £12.50 for each block of two hours.

You can book your blocks by emailing info@gaming.je or calling 01534 732323.

Dance Camp

Essentail Dance will be running a dance camp on Tuesday from 09:00-15:00, with drop off from 08:30.

All students will need packed lunch and a refillable water bottle.

Padel tennis

Island Padel is organising a padel day camp on Tuesday for kids aged between five and 14 years.

The camp will take place from 9:00 to 15:00, with the option of an early drop-off at 08:30.

Attendees will have to bring a packed lunch and plenty of water, but there will be snacks and drinks available to buy at the Padel Pad.

'aMaizin' foam party

aMaizin Adventure Park will be open on Tuesday from 10:00-17:30, with a foam party taking place at 13:00 as a "little treat" for those who are sad to be missing out on school!

Flippin' fun

De Mond Gymnastics Academy is offering a gymnastics club for those in need of childcare on Tuesday.

Children can be signed up for either a morning or a full-day session.

Music and dance camp

Jodie Lee Performing Arts Academy is teaming up with Jersey Academy of Music to offer a one-day camp filled with music, dance and singing.

The camp will take place on Wednesday 5 July from 09:00-16:00 and is open to children from Reception to Year 6.
