Mendacious Harpy wowed the ladies yesterday by winning the big race at Les Landes as jockey Mattie Batchelor guided home the favourite in the 3.40pm Coutts Handicap feature sprint.
Mr Batchelor, a three-time champion jockey, bided his time before unleashing George Baker-trained Mendacious Harpy in the final furlong, showing the rest of the field a clean pair of heels, with Too Many Diamonds ridden by Paddy Pilley second.
The One mile 100 yards handicap was for a first prize of £2,380.
Mr Batchelor said: “I had to be a little patient and just take my time but she is a very strong horse and has a turn of speed. I got myself into position and the horse did the rest. It was a strong field though and a good win.” See below the video of the final stages of the third race with Mendacious Harpy securing victory.

Earlier, Swiss Cross, with Tim Clark on board, won the 3.05pm Ladbrokes Bet Live In Play Handicap second race, taking home the £1,780 first prize , to the disappointment of the majority of the crowd hoping for a win for Channel Islands-trained Pas D’Action.
Flutterbee, also ridden by Mattie Batchelor, won the 4.15pm race - the Ladbrokes Ladies Day Handicap.
