Havre des Pas festival becomes "end of summer party"

Friday 21 July 2023

Organisers of the Havre des Pas Seaside Festival have confirmed that the event is to become an "end of summer party" with a reduced entrance fee.

Promising food stalls, funfair rides, live music and beach activities, the festival will be returning on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September.

At its height in 2018, the festival attracted 18,500 people in one day. When it first started back in 2004 it was run by the parish and entry was free.

However, in recent years escalating costs forced the municipality to withdraw funding. The event then became privately run with last year's edition – the first in four years – costing £7 per ticket, which attracted criticism on social media.

However, the Parish of St. Helier confirmed this morning that the fee has been reduced and will now be £3 for a one-day ticket and £5 for the whole weekend.

"I'm really excited to be able to bring an end of summer party to Havre Des Pas," St. Helier's Head of Engagement, Connor Burgher, said.

"Following consultation with the Havre Des Pas residents group I'm pleased that we can offer something for everyone to enjoy, particularly families."
