Firefighters using breathing apparatus were called to tackle a bedroom blaze in the early hours of this morning after a heater was mistakenly switched on.
The fire occurred in the downstairs bedroom of a family home in Grand Vaux.
A smoke detector fortunately woke up the family, allowing them to safely evacuate the building.
Nine ‘Red Watch’ firefighters in two fire engines then arrived after a 999 call around 04:00 this morning.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus then entered the smoke-logged building to extinguish the fire using a hose reel. A ventilation fan was then used to clear the smoke.
It later emerged that the fire had been caused by a heater that was “accidentally switched on.”
Fire and Rescue Service officials have since described the family as “safe and well.”
