One of the Island’s oldest hotels is hoping love will blossom for two of its guests this Valentine’s Day.
The Royal Yacht is offering an overnight stay, spa treatments and a bottle of champers for the first person to pop the question at the hotel on 14 February.
It’s proved to be a popular place for love – the hotel has seen well over 100 proposals since it re-opened in 2007 and Jersey's famous actress Lily Langtry chose it as the venue for her wedding back in the nineteenth century.
The Royal Yacht’s General Manager Alcino Vieira said: ”We upgraded our facilities last year and have introduced a range of new, high quality products and experiences for our guests – this seems to have resulted in more romance! From couples booking nights in, to candlelit meals and joint spa treatments, we have seen in increase in people enjoying The Royal Yacht for special occasions together.
"The Royal Yacht has existed for nearly 200 years now, and while we know that around 100 couples have proposed since we re-launched in 2007, it is probably more like thousands since we were first built – Lillie Langtry herself held her wedding reception at The Royal Yacht in 1874, so we have a heritage of beautiful weddings and romantic gestures.”
There are conditions attached to the Hotel's "love"ly offer though - there has to be a ring, the couple has to be staying, dining or using the spa at the hotel on Valentine's Day and they must let a member of staff know if the answer is "yes" so that they can get a picture for the Royal Yacht to use online.
