Ice Skate Jersey returns to the Fort for Christmas

Saturday 30 September 2017

Your Christmas wishes have been granted: Ice Skate Jersey is returning to Fort Regent with an 800sqm ice rink and a 'Festive Fort’, which will include a variety of Christmas-themed activities.

Sponsored by Sure, the ice rink will be open from 7 December to 14 January 2018 with a professional ice skating instructor on hand to provide lessons.

The 800sqm rink, which consists of real ice 100mm thick and is chilled to -5.6 degrees, will once again be available to hire for corporate events and private parties. It will include a dedicated rink for children to use and where private lessons will take place with a professional ice skating instructor. One-on-one or group lessons will be available.

This will be the seventh year that Ice Skate Jersey has operated an ice rink at Christmas on the island. This year, however, Christmas at Fort Regent is set to be even more festive. Along with the rink, there will be a ‘Festive Fort’, and interactive experiences and Christmas-themed activities. More information about the activities will be announced in the coming weeks.

Louise Burrows, Sure’s Head of Marketing, said: “Sure is passionate about supporting local community initiatives and events that provide islanders with something fun and a bit different to do and that’s exactly what Ice Skate Jersey offers. It’s a pleasure to play a part in bringing ice skating to Jersey. We know it has become a tradition at Christmas time for many so it’s great to have the ice rink back for 2017 and we at Sure can’t wait to get our skates on.”

Keith Halstead of Ice Skate Jersey added: “We are very excited that Ice Skate Jersey will be returning to Fort Regent this December with the continued support of our long-term sponsor Sure. We’re looking forward to welcoming islanders back on the ice in the run up to Christmas and into the New Year.”

Tickets can be purchased on the day and in advance from Monday 4 December at the Ice Skate Jersey ticket booth within the Piazza at Fort Regent.
