Jersey Freemasons appoint new leader

Sunday 22 December 2024

An organisation which can trace its roots in Jersey back to the 18th century has appointed its new leader.

Tim Dallas-Chapman was recently named the fourteenth head of Jersey’s Freemasons, and will be responsible for their overall strategy and continuing community and charity engagement.

The low-profile group, which is based in the Masonic Temple on Stopford Road, describes itself as a “cornerstone of the island's charitable community”, and has distributed over £850,000 to a wide range of charities and other causes over the last 10 years.

Mr Dallas-Chapman was officially inducted at an “installation ceremony” attended by over 300 Freemasons, including signatories from Jersey and the UK.

He takes over from Graham Spence, who headed up the Freemasons since 2020.

Mr Dallas-Chapman said he was “honoured to lead Freemasonry in Jersey and to build on the tremendous work already done by my predecessors”.

He will be joined by Ian Crosby, who has been appointed as deputy.

Mr Dallas-Chapman added: “Freemasons in Jersey are not only committed to the principles of our craft, but also to making a tangible difference in our local community. Together, we will continue to serve and support those in need, helping to create a better Jersey for all.”
