Local businesses have been sharing why they have put themselves forward for 'Jersey's Best Workplace', a new awards initiative launched by All Island Media which will help unlock insights about their teams.
In partnership with CompassJersey, the employee engagement award seeks to identify the gold-standard of employee satisfaction in the island.
To identify a winner, businesses will be benchmarked against each other and receive detailed analysis.
Before that analysis gets underway, Express spoke to several businesses who have decided to take part in the process.
Gavin Reid, Managing Director of Randalls, explained what the pub and restaurant group is hoping to learn from the programme and what a good workplace culture means to them...
The desire to understand if the efforts we do make to provide for a contented workplace are appreciated and having the desired effect.
Security: We want to our staff to feel safe and valued for their individual roles. Our key ethos is no one is more important than the next, we all individually have a special role to play regardless of position.
Rewarding: All our staff are continually encouraged to offer new ideas and be part of the decision making process, and subsequently motivated to be part the Randalls family.
Fun: We want people to enjoy coming to work, and ensure there is a happy balance between work time and making time for social engagement between departments.
If you create a happy workplace, you hopefully promote individuals creativity and productivity. This also provides for improved staff retention and subsequent consistency of the service we offer
Are the main aims and efforts we have set out being achieved? Despite our own internal reviews, this initiative allows for an anonymous and honest response.
We will always look to improve, and as with any large organisation there will be constant appraisal of how we can do things better, and this initiative will hopefully allow for that.
Top-performing companies will be highlighted in a special Jersey’s Best Workplace publication distributed in print and online through All Island Media's brands, Bailiwick Express and the Jersey Evening Post in March 2025.
Winners will also be honoured at a special awards ceremony next year.
In addition to the survey results, compensation and potential to be crowned 'Jersey’s Best Workplace', entrants will receive an All Island Media advertising credit and an annual subscription to the digital edition of the Jersey Evening Post.
