La Route du Fort to be closed for resurfacing

Saturday 20 August 2016

One of Jersey’s busiest roads is going to be intermittently closed over the next two weeks so it can be resurfaced.

The Department for Infrastructure says to keep disruption to a minimum the work on La Route du Fort will be carried out on three consecutive Sundays – August 21st, 28th and September 4th – from 08:00 until 20:00; and for two weeks - Monday to Friday - in the evenings from 7 until 11.

The Department says “La Route du Fort is a high priority for maintenance due to poor ride quality as a result of undulations, utility trenches and fatigue of the road surface.” The last time this section of road – from Green Street roundabout to Roseville Street – was resurfaced was in 1987.

Although the road will be closed to traffic – it’s being diverted via Havre des Pas or Don Road – pedestrian access will be maintained.

The work should be finished before the end of the school holidays.
