Les Amis annual Christmas Carol service returns

Saturday 02 December 2017

Les Amis Christmas Carol service is making its annual return at the Town Church today at 15:00 with a selection of Christmas tunes including the choir’s personal favourite, 'When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney.'

The residents have been rehearsing since October to perform for the charity's patrons, Lieutenant-Governor Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton and Lady Dalton.

Jason Loveless, Head of Respite and Outreach Services and Choir Coordinator, said: “Our choir rehearsals are the highlight of my week. Music has such a powerful and restorative impact on our residents and I am so impressed by their commitment to attending all the rehearsals.

"When you sing it releases lots of endorphins and studies suggest that singing helps to reduce chronic pain. I would like to thank our sponsors since the service’s inception Pitcher & Le Quesne, Funeral Directors. Your support, in time as well as financially, creates this magical event which for many has become the unofficial start of Christmas.”

Lauren Carré, Les Amis PR, Marketing and Fundraising Manager, said: “The Christmas Carol Service is certainly the jewel in the Les Amis crown of events. I challenge anyone who goes to our carol service to leave without a smile on their face.

"I would like to thank Jason who has organised and trained the choir for the last three years as without his commitment our residents wouldn’t get this wonderful opportunity to sing and perform.”

Refreshments will be available in the Church Hall after the performance, which is free thanks to the sponsorship of Pitcher & Le Quesne, Funeral Directors. A retiring collection will be held for the charity.
