Local businesses invited to help build new hospital

Sunday 11 July 2021

Jersey businesses who would like to play a role in the building of the new hospital at Overdale are being invited to register their interest.

ROKFCC JV, a joint venture between local firm ROK Limited and Spanish firm FCC Construction, is now inviting expressions of interest from businesses who can provide products and/or services for the design and delivery of the Our Hospital project.

With external works and changes to Westmount Road due to begin next summer, subject to planning approval, the project team is starting to compile a list of potential supply-chain partners, both local and international.

Richard de Gruchy, ROKFCC Legacy Director, said: “We would like to hear from businesses, especially those based in Jersey, whose products and/or services can contribute in some way to the construction of the Our Hospital Project.

“Having worked in, and supported, Jersey’s construction industry for more than 20 years, I believe that our local suppliers and sub-contractors have a broad range of expertise, a depth of experience and the drive to help the Government of Jersey and ROK FCC JV deliver a new hospital for Islanders. I hope to see as many local businesses as possible register their interest with us before 31 July 2021.”

Deputy Hugh Raymond, Deputy Chair of the Our Hospital Political Oversight Group, said: “As our community are well aware, this is a significant project for the Island, which will create significant opportunities for local suppliers and sub-contractors.

“Their involvement and expertise will be key to the success of this project and I encourage them to register.”

Asked if local businesses would be prioritised over non-local ones, Mr de Gruchy said: "At this stage, we are inviting expressions of interest from local and overseas businesses.

"Once this is complete, a pre-qualification process will be undertaken to ensure all applicants meet the necessary criteria for the work required before a tender is issued to them.

"The criteria and weighting will be formulated by information received in this process and therefore is not yet determined. However, we would like to see as many local suppliers and trades as possible involved in this once-in-a-lifetime project for Jersey.”
