Local talent invited to perform with Toploader

Toploader will be performing in Jersey next month and are looking for a Jersey musician to support them.

The British group regularly hit the charts in the late 1990s with singles like ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ and sold over 20 million albums during a career spanning nearly two decades.

Their performance at Jersey Opera House on Saturday 20 September will be their only show in the Channel Islands and their last date on a tour which has taken them around 27 towns and cities across the UK this year.

Toploader’s agent, Mark Lundquist, said: “This will be the first time the group will have performed in Jersey and they are really looking forward to it. They are really a festival band and virtually all the other dates on their tour this year have been at festivals. This will be their only concert venue.”

Toploader Lead singer Joseph Washbourn said: "We are super excited about our upcoming show at the Opera House on Sat 20th October. It will be our first gig in the Channel Islands and seemed like a great opportunity to find some budding local talent to come and support us. We can't wait to listen to all the entries...GOOD LUCK!"

Toploader shot back into the charts last autumn when they released ‘This Is The Night’, which topped the BBC Radio 2 playlist, beating the likes of Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow and Celine Dion.

Mark said: “We are looking for a local musician or perhaps a duo to support the band for the first 30 minutes. It has to be a solo or duo due to the equipment changes, and ideally it will be someone who performs in an indie/pop style which will go well with the music to follow. It’s a great opportunity for someone who is currently performing on YouTube or who has tracks on i-tunes to get some exposure, and we are always on the look out for musicians we can use in the future.”

Anyone who would like to audition should send their YouTube or MP3 demos, a photograph and their biography to Mark Lundquist at mark@marklundquist.com before Friday 12 September. Entries are welcome from musicians from all Channel Islands.
