The Fire service had to close one of the Island's busiest roads today, while they removed loose slates from a roof.
A member of the public working in a nearby office called the emergency services just before lunch time, reporting that they could see loose slates from an opposite building hanging over the pavement.
Firefighters from Blue Watch needed their aerial ladder to reach the slates, which they said were posing a real hazard to the public. The road needed to be closed for 20 minutes, while they were working on the roof, and the Fire Service has apologised for any disruption.
