A gecko who caused a shock after jumping out of a bag after a family returned from a holiday in Madeira is now out of quarantine – and ready to find a "forever home" in Guernsey.
The islander who found the reptile – now named Larry – said that he "nearly gave [her] a heart attack" as she unpacked.
"He ran across the bed and I screamed!!!" she said.
Larry has since been with Guernsey's Animal Shelter, the GSPCA, and Manager Steve Byrne reported this week that he was now ready to find a new "forever home" in the island.
In May, a Viperine Snake - now called Enrique - was found in a local garden centre kitchen after hitching a ride among cabbages from Spain.
While also this year a tiny snake travelled back with a couple who had been holidaying in Mexico.
The GSPCA has rehomed three snakes in the last week.

GSPCA Manager, Steve Byrne, said: "We also have a bearded dragon in need of a home, [and] possibly have others coming into our care soon, so if you are looking for any kind of species it is always a good idea to register your interest with us."
