A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention and driving whilst unfit, after he allegedly hit a 71-year-old pedestrian on Queen's Road this morning.
The extent of the injuries suffered by the victim are still unknown although they are not life-threatening.
The accident took place around 9:30 on Queen's Road in the area around the Pet Cabin and the Food Hall.
The driver of a white Peugeot 205 allegedly hit the 71-year-old pedestrian who was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The Police described the incident as a "serious road traffic collision." The road was closed for around two hours whilst Police carried out their investigations.
Queens Road closure will remain in place for another 2 hours whilst specialist officers continue their investigation.
