A 51-year-old man has been found guilty of six counts of rape and one indecent assault which took place over a 21-year period.

The man was convicted yesterday following a seven day trial in the Royal Court.

He will be sentenced next year.

In April 2023, the victim told the police about several sexual assaults which took place between 2000 and 2021.

The perpetrator was then arrested and released on bail. He was charged with the offences in February 2024.

DC Carla Garnier said: “The States of Jersey Police would like to commend the victim and witness in this case, for both coming forward and then having the courage to stand up in court and give their evidence.

“Throughout this investigation and trial, the victim has been supported by Jersey Domestic Abuse Service and that support will continue going forward.

“The States of Jersey Police takes domestic abuse extremely seriously, working with our partner agencies to support the victims of these crimes, we seek to bring perpetrators to justice.”
