Man jailed after driving car repeatedly whilst banned

A man who drove his car repeatedly over the course of a month while he was banned from driving has been jailed for six months.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that Jordon Lodwidge (29) was stopped by a police officer near the Airport and admitted that he was disqualified.

Lodwidge pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance from 14 September until the day he was arrested a month later.

Advocate Chris Baglin, defending, said Lodwidge knew he had needed to re-apply for his licence and take a test after his previous disqualification, but had experienced difficulty in doing this because he did not have a permanent address.

Magistrate Bridget Shaw said that the offence was a very serious one and that, in her opinion, custody was “the only just sentence”.

Lodwidge was jailed for six months, disqualified from driving for a further 12 months and reminded that he would still need to re-take his test before he could drive again.
