A million quid to spend a penny?

The Parish of St Helier has unveiled a new office block, kiosk and public toilets in Conway Street after a £1 million project.

The project has seen a revamp of a tired old building according to St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft, who also says that the building will bring in around £25,000 in rents every year.

He said that over a million people walk down the street every year.

“Conway Street is a main route into town for people using the bus every day, and this development enhances the appearance of the street,” said the Constable.

He added that the parish had been keen to add some street-level public toilets, and that the opportunity had been taken to add some streetscape improvements.

Mr Crowcroft said that the project had involved buying a site neighbouring the old public toilets, demolishing an existing building and erecting a completely new building.
