A new 2,200 sq ft Marks & Spencer Foodhall opened in the Waterfront’s Liberty Wharf shopping centre on Thursday.
The store has created ten new job roles and will cater for residents in the Waterfront area and workers locating to the new International Finance Centre and Esplanade business district.
The opening of the Foodhall marks the latest development at M&S Liberty Wharf, which introduced seven-day shopping at a new and improved Home store earlier this year.
The newly styled and redesigned Home store has paved the way for the new, conveniently located food outlet which will bring a wider range of Marks & Spencer’s Food to the Waterfront district seven days a week. The range will include M&S’s popular chilled food, sandwiches and salads, confectionery, soft drinks, wines, beers and spirits, as well as an in-store bakery offering a range of freshly baked specialty breads, pastries, cakes, and coffee-to-go.
Stephen Forrester, Managing Director of Marks & Spencer Jersey said: “We’re delighted how well the new Foodhall sits within our Liberty Wharf complex. It’s a significant investment which has created 10 new job roles and I know will provide a useful facility to nearby residents and workers newly located to the Waterfront area. St Helier customers will also now be able to conveniently shop for their favourite M&S food and drink on Sundays as well as the rest of the week.”
A ribbon was cut to mark the opening of the new Liberty Wharf store on Thursday morning by Sean Gibbons. Mr Gibbons beat hundreds of other islanders who entered a competition to be a VIP at Marks and Spencer for the event.
