Following the retirement of the current director, a new executive has been appointed to pilot the airport’s operations.
Inez Bartolo, who has worked as an Aerodrome Inspector at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for nearly 30 years, has been recruited as Stephen Driscoll’s replacement because he is going into retirement after working for the airport for over 44 years.
The new Airport Director has worked for the CAA, an aviation regulator in the UK, for over 27 years and will be taking over from Mr Driscoll, who has been in the role since 2015 and will be retiring at the end of this year.
A Ministerial Decision, signed off by the Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture Senator Lyndon Farnham, approved the appointment this week.
Announcing the appointment, Group CEO for Ports of Jersey Doug Bannister, said: "Inez is one of the CAA’s most senior and experienced leaders, having worked alongside the majority of UK aerodromes, including Jersey and comes to us with a wealth of experience. Given the focus on regulatory matters for Ports of Jersey she will be a great asset to the team and we look forward to her joining us."

The decision reads: “Following the recent resignation of the current Airport Director, the Airport Authority has appointed Inez Bartolo as Airport Director to replace Stephen Driscoll.
“The Minister has been notified to expect this appointment and he is therefore recommended to endorse this decision.”
Of her appointment, Mrs Bartolo said: "As an airport regulator I have already established a strong relationship with Jersey Airport. I am therefore, delighted to be joining the team at Ports of Jersey and very much look forward to the future and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for the organisation."

Mr Driscoll joined Jersey Airport in 1974 as an electrician and worked his way up to become Chief Operating Officer and Airport Director in 2012. Commenting on Mr Driscoll's retirement, Mr Bannister said: "While we would have liked a few more years of his leadership, knowledge and experience we now have a stronger team as a result of his efforts and we wish him a wonderful retirement."
Mrs Bartolo will take over from Mr Driscoll from January next year.
