New campaign to expose 'so called' legal highs

A big campaign highlighting the lies about 'so called' legal highs has been launched in the Island today.

highs.exposed aims to give young people and parents the lowdown on the dangers of NPS as well as advice and support.

NPS (New Psychoactive Substances) are substances designed to act like existing illegal drugs. They are often so new, that no research has been done to find out their dangers, and they've been linked to many hospital admissions and even deaths. 

The campaign has been launched by Prison! Me! No Way!!! Jersey, States of Jersey Police, Prison, Ambulance and Customs and Immigration Services with this new website here that highlights the devastating effects the drugs can have and how the drug manufacturers market them as legal and safe when they are not.

ITV Channel will be airing three different ads starring some of the Island's young people and there will be ads on all the school buses.

A parent / carer Roadshow will also be out visiting all the Island's secondary school and it'll be a chance for anyone who's worried that a family member or friend might be using the drugs to get advice.

Prison! Me! No Way!!! have also come up with three new lessons using locally filmed material that they will be delivering to every student in the Island in years eight, ten and twelve as part of their PSHE.
