Captain William (Bill) Sadler has been appointed as the island’s new Harbourmaster to take over from Captain Phil Buckley who announced in March that he would be returning to the UK.
Captain Sadler is a Master Mariner with over 20 years’ seagoing experience across a number of different sectors, including oil and gas tankers as well as passenger vessels.
Prior to joining Ports of Jersey in January 2015, he spent 12 years with Trinity House, helping to maintain offshore aids to navigation around the British Isles.
Having joined Ports of Jersey in the role of Pilot/Marine Manager, he is also an Acting Harbour Master and currently manages Jersey Coastguard and St Helier VTS, which co-ordinates all marine search and rescue activities in the island’s territorial waters, and provides marine traffic management for the ports of St Helier and Gorey.
