St. Brelade parishioners will tonight be asked to decide the fate of a popular food kiosk.
La Pulente-based The HideOut, is facing closure at the end of the month, meaning the loss of 12 jobs, after the Parish declined to renew its licence to operate.
Constable Mike Jackson says that its operation would get in the way of a much-needed revamp of toilets that fell into disrepair after being sold to private owners.
But kiosk owner Karl Sutton says there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be able to continue operating while the development process is underway – and that he’d be happy to leave once construction is complete.

Having failed to convince the Constable with a petition to save the kiosk signed by more than 6,000 people, he has lodged a ‘requête’ - an ancient mechanism to force a Parish Assembly – with the support of former St. Brelade Constable and current Senator, Steve Pallett.
Due to be voted upon this evening, the motion asks that:
The meeting will be taking place at 19:00 at St. Brelade’s Parish Hall. Only 40 people will be able to attend due to covid restrictions.
