Parking charges rise

The cost of parking in Jersey will be rising next month to help the government fund its green transport ambitions.

Charges will rise by 2p per unit from 85p to 87p on Monday 2 March.

The 2.4% increase, which was approved by Infrastructure Minister Deputy Kevin Lewis, is in line with rises In the cost of living.

Eco-friendly parking permits are also set to go up by the same amount.

The charges are aimed at maintaining, refurbishing and improving car parks, but also support the government’s ambitions to make transport on the island more eco-friendly.

“This is a standard annual increase which enable us to continue to meet our costs, and to maintain our car parks and adapt them to improve the experience for users and to support the Sustainable Transport Policy and road safety initiatives,” Deputy Lewis said.
