As Christmas begins, just, to enter islanders' minds some will have already turned their minds to their New Years’ Resolution… And one islander has just the idea.
Melissa Nobrega – the charity champion behind Caring Cooks and formerly of the Fundraising Forum – wants to get more islanders on the payroll giving scheme.
She describes it as the “busy person’s way to give”, which allows employees to donate a percentage of their earnings automatically to a charity of their choice each month, who will gain a tax benefit.
She says islanders wouldn’t need to donate much for the scheme to have a huge impact – just £1 a week from a quarter of the working population would see charities £1million better off.
It’s no more than the equivalent of giving up your morning coffee once a month, but could you do it, and how far would you be willing to go?
Express wants to know. Please complete our short, three-question, survey and we'll publish the results next week.
