The first of three new Greggs bakeries has opened its doors ready for a slice of the market.
Islanders queued up to get a taste of what the UK's largest bakery chain had to offer in Halkett Street while hungry workers and shoppers were treated to a free bite size sausage roll in King Street.
Sandpiper announced last October that the bakers were coming to Jersey, creating 30 new jobs with their stores in Colomberie, Halkett Street and Les Quennevais Parade.
Greggs sell more than a million products in the UK every day, and have been trading for 75 years. They employ 20,000 people across nine regional bakeries and 1,700 shops in the UK.
Speaking at the time of the announcement Sandpiper chief executive officer Tony O’Neill said that the brand fits comfortably with their retail strategy to bring quality and value franchises to the Channel Islands.
The bakeries in Colomberie and Les Quennevais are due to open in the coming weeks.
