An application to create a cannabis farm in St Mary has been refused.
On Thursday, the Planning Committee rejected a bid to add various extensions to an existing glasshouse at Verte Rue Farm in Rue du Rondin and clad the whole structure in metal.
The plans included building a 2.3m-high perimeter safety fence and a new access track to the northern edge of the property.

The decision by the Planning Committee was split three votes for and three against, meaning that the status quo – in this case refusal – was maintained.
The application was recommended for refusal by the Planning Officer assigned to the case.
Reasons for refusal included “insufficient”, “inconsistent” and “conflicting” information provided as part of the submission and that the “siting, scale and the design of the proposed building", including the perimeter fence, would be “dominant and visually intrusive within the landscape".
The application was supported by the Jersey Farmers Union, but the National Trust for Jersey was against.
A previous attempt to extend and clad the greenhouse, and erect fencing, was refused in 2022 and a further attempt last year was withdrawn.
