Police are investigating how two of their cars, with lights and sirens blazing on an emergency call, crashed into a Citroen van right outside their headquarters.
No one was hurt in the incident, which closed Rouge Bouillon for several hours yesterday evening, while crash investigators tried to work out what happened. All three vehicles were damaged.
A statement released just after lunch today said:
"At approximately 6:20pm on Wednesday 6 July, a three-vehicle road traffic collision involving two marked Police vehicles and a white Citroen van occurred directly outside Rouge Bouillon Police Headquarters. Thankfully, no-one was injured during the collision, however, damage was caused to all three vehicles involved. Both Police vehicles were responding to an emergency call at the time and had their lights and sirens activated as is standard procedure.
We would like to pass our thanks and appreciation to those affected by the road closure for their patience and understanding. An investigation is now underway and a file will be submitted to the Law Officers’ Department for their consideration once complete."
The Police have declined to make any further comment until that investigation is done.
