Police investigating assault on child at park

Friday 10 June 2016

Police are investigating an incident in which a child was slapped in the face by an adult at the playground at the Parade Gardens last Sunday.

Two children – thought to be aged around seven or eight – were arguing at the playground at around 5.20 pm when the parent of one of the children slapped one of them in the face.

The child was not injured.

The suspect is described by police as being a white male aged between 35 and 39, with black hair spiked up in a small Mohawk, with black stubble.

He was wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt, and carrying a blue plastic bag at the time.

There were several witnesses to the incident, mostly children.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and contact them on 612612.
