Possible ‘shock’ discovery at the General Hospital

Monday 11 June 2018

Don’t be alarmed if you hear a series of loud ‘explosions’ near the General Hospital this morning.

Electricians want to find out if five electricity cables they’ve recently discovered are live. To do this they’ll be using a spike gun to discharge a .44 calibre cartridge. The experts say this has the potential to be loud.

The work’s being carried out by the JEC and the five bangs are likely to happen between 08:30 and 10:00.

The cables are in a service road which is on the hospital’s grounds by the Engineering Department block (next to the chimney at the Cheapside end of Kensington Place).

It’s believed the cables aren’t live, but until that’s confirmed the new hospital team can’t continue their ground investigation.
