Public urged to avoid Devil’s Hole so police can search for missing woman

Saturday 04 March 2017

Jersey Police are worried their search for a missing 75-year-old woman could be being inadvertently hampered by the public.

Valerie Jehan was last seen in the Undercliff Road area of St Helier at around midday on Friday. She’s described as 5 foot 6 inches tall, of proportionate build with light brown/blonde hair. She’s believed to have been wearing a black coat, dark clothing, glasses and carrying a small black handbag.

Having conducted house-to-house enquiries the police are now widening their search.

Co-ordinated Emergency Services are now concentrating search efforts in the Devil’s Hole area on the north of the island.  This includes Channel Islands Air Search which is currently airborne, lifeboat and police dog resources.

But police say “owing to the number of search personnel in the area, and the use of a police dog which may at times be off the leash, members of the public are requested to afford the Emergency Services the space to concentrate their efforts and focus.”

Although efforts are presently in this area, members of the public are asked to remain vigilant not only in the general and surrounding area but elsewhere for Valerie.

Anyone who has information about Valerie is urged to contact the Police on 612612.
