Jersey Pride, which was to be held this Saturday, may not take place as planned.
In a tweet last night, the organisers said: “Liberate is saddened to hear the news of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. This comes ahead of this weekend’s CI Pride celebrations in Jersey.
The Bailiff's Chambers say they will be issuing more guidance and outlining what happens next as they hear from the Palace.
Under the original Pride plans, the celebrations were to start at 13:00 with participants gathering in the Royal Square. This is also where islanders are being invited to lay flowers in memory of the Queen.
From 14:00, the parade was then set to travel through town down King Street, the Parade, and Kensington Place to the Pride Village at People's Park. It was to be followed by seven hours of speeches and entertainment.
Pride was first held in the Channel Islands in 2015.
Ahead of Pride, organisers Liberate had also organised a day-long 'Power and Equality Conference' due to take place today.
This has, however, been cancelled. Liberate CEO Vic Tanner-Davy confirmed the decision had been taken in light of the Royal news last night. He also said an update on Pride was due to follow shortly.
The conference was due to include talks, debates and discussions aiming to bring people together to raising awareness to the pertinent issues affecting the island that often fall disproportionately on minority communities, such as the housing crisis.

The charity's patron, Stonewall co-founder, former actor and LGBTQ+ activist Lord Michael Cashman, was due to deliver a keynote speech focusing on removing toxicity from divisive social debates and responding with empathy in order to build healthy, inclusive democracies.
