Speeders prompt plans for humps on St. Helier road

Sunday 24 October 2021

Complaints about speeders along Old St. John’s Road have led St. Heiier to consider installing speed humps.

The Parish is currently looking at installing three humps along the road – one of which is just before the hairpin bend when travelling in the direction of Westmount Cemetery.

Before going ahead with the traffic-calming plan, St. Helier is seeking islanders’ views.

It comes after St. Helier dropped speed limits to 20mph or less across nearly 60 roads.

As part of the second phase of the parish’s speed limit review, consideration is being given to reduce Old St. John’s Road to a 20mph road.

Anyone wishing to share their thoughts on the speed humps plan can email infrastructure@posh.gov.je or write to Parish of St Helier Infrastructure, Town Hall, PO Box 50, St Helier, JE4 8PA.

The consultation’s closing date is Friday 5 November.
