Rugby and football players observed a minute’s silence today in tribute to the two “terrible tragedies” that have occurred on land, and at sea, in Jersey this week.
Ahead of their match against Horley at Springfield today, the Jersey Bulls paid silent tribute to the victims of the explosion at Pier Road in the early hours of this morning; and to the collision this week between a fishing boat and Condor freight ship.
Jersey Bulls said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those missing at sea and in the explosion this morning."
Jersey RFC also held a minute's silence in St. Peter ahead of their game against Basingstoke in recognition of the two tragedies that have taken place over the past 72 hours.

Police Chief Robin Smith confirmed this morning that at least one person had died following the explosion this morning.They are yet to be named.
He also said that up to 12 people were missing. Searches assisted by experts from the UK remain ongoing.
Meanwhile, the skipper of L'Ecume II which collided with Condor's Commodore Goodwill earlier this week was identified as Michael Michieli.
This afternoon, Ports of Jersey confirmed the names of the two other Philippine nationals who had been on board during the collision as Larry Simyun and Jervis Baligat.
