St Helier's marina could become home to a set of floating flats nestled along the side of Albert Pier next to the yachts and fishing boats – if planning permission is approved.
A planning application placed by Ports of Jersey proposes building six one-bed flats on the water.
They would be similar to floating apartments built elsewhere, with those sold in the UK by Waterlodge cited as an example.
The planning application outlines project benefits, including making a "positive contribution to tourism by adding to the hospitality options available" and providing a "connection between locals and the harbour".

In an application placed on behalf of Ports of Jersey, Waddington Architects explained that the qualities of local harbours are not experience by most people unless they are boat owners.
"The pontoons project offers locals and visitors alike the opportunity to live at the surface of the harbour waters, to experience the tidal ranges and maritime environment," the design statement explains.
"A unique sense of place awaits discovery in these cosy boltholes. Stepping onto dry land becomes another experience, as does enjoying the peaceful harbour basin, tucked below, and sheltered from the noisy road level."

The pontoons themselves are described as "factory-made, nautically inspired structures, providing a comfortable place to stay".
The planning application explains that the floating flats will have small outdoor decks, with each having a slightly different colour scheme as well as identification numbers on the roof.
"They are intended to sit quietly in the marina and will, we hope, offer many people a unique and delightful experience," added Waddington Architects.
The full planning application can be viewed online. A decision is expected at the end of November.
