How dairy! Supply issues impact green milk packaging

Jersey Dairy are the latest business to be affected by supply chain issues, as their current supplier of fresh milk cartons failed to deliver an order of one litre 2.5% fresh milk cartons.

This order was originally due to be delivered into Jersey on 24 June, but increasingly difficult supply chain issues now mean that this order will not arrive into Jersey until Saturday 16th July.

Jersey Dairy now anticipate that the retail shops in the island will run out of stock of the one litre 2.5% fresh milk cartons on Tuesday 12 July until Thursday morning 14 July, subject to the stock eventually arriving in Jersey on Wednesday.

During the period that the one litre 2.5% fresh milk cartons will be unavailable, Jersey Dairy will be increasing the volumes of the one litre 1% and one-litre whole fresh milk cartons that they pack to accommodate the volumes of fresh milk normally sold in the 2.5% cartons.

It is hoped that this will ensure that there will be no overall shortage of fresh milk for islanders.

The 2.5% milk will also still be available in long life UHT cartons.

Eamon Fenlon, Managing Director of Jersey Dairy, said: "I would like to sincerely apologise to all our customers for this situation, it is not acceptable, and we will be making appropriate changes to ensure this does not happen again."
