Unbeaten Jersey Football Combination leaders St Paul’s will have their flawless record tested to the limit with three matches in the next 11 days.
The runaway title leaders have won all their eight league matches this season and are currently four points ahead of second-placed Jersey Scottish, but with a hefty three games in hand.
They face St Peter at home today, then take on Scottish in mid-week, again at Springfield. A week after that fixture St Paul’s tackle St Ouen at home and victory in all three games would leave them with a huge advantage in the title race.
St Paul’s beat JTC Jersey Wanderers 2-0 in their last game on 23 November and this season has seen them thrash most of their nearest rivals. In October, Scottish were beaten 5-1, Trinity 4-0 and St Ouen 8-1, while back in September, Jersey Wanderers were on the receiving end of a 2-0 defeat.
St Paul’s opened their title campaign with a 12-0 away win at Jersey Portuguese on 20 August.
This season has been all plain sailing for St Paul’s and if the rest of the Combination is to have any chance of catching them, they will have to slip up significantly.
Also playing today are Jersey Portuguese at home to St Ouen, while Scottish host Trinity and Rozel Rovers take on JTC Jersey Wanderers at Le Couvent. All kick-offs are 14:00.
