A cyclist was hit by a car in Broad Street yesterday lunchtime, and another is in hospital after a collision with another rider on the cycle track this morning.
Yesterday’s accident saw a 33-year-old woman taken to hospital just before 1 pm after she was hit by a blue Chevrolet being driven by a 77-year-old woman in Broad Street.
She was not seriously injured.
Police closed off the road for almost an hour, and spoke to witnesses and are understood to be reviewing CCTV footage.
This morning’s accident took place by the first layby on Victoria Avenue at around 7.35 am when two cyclists collided.
One – aged 48 - fell off his bike and hit his head, and is being treated in hospital.
The police said that he was wearing a helmet and that his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing. The hospital described his condition as "comfortable".
The other cyclist, aged 46, was not hurt.
