A crowd of creatures from the underworld will flock to town on Saturday, but they really do wish you well. As bloody or scary those undead might seem, they are not after your brains, but after your money, as the fourth annual Zombie Walk is raising funds for Autism Jersey.
Islanders feeling dead-icated and with £5 to spare are invited to join Jersey's army of the dead at 15:00 at West Centre.
Organisers have promised entertainment at the West Centre to keep the party alive, including dancers from Zumba Jersey. For those who are not so sure about their make-up skills, artists will also be on deck to turn them into picture-perfect zombies, with donations also going to Autism Jersey.
The Zombie Walk will then depart at 16:00 from West Centre, with zombies shuffling through Queen Street, King Street and Royal Square and collecting along the way.
To enter, people are asked to register online for £5. For the first time, workplaces will be able to enter teams of four people, for the same entry fee. The organisers are also encouraging sponsorship, and there will be a prize for the person who raises the most. The best dressed zombie will also get a prize.
As the event is quite unusual, organisers needed a unique security team on deck and they knew just who to call. The team at Jersey Ghostbusters will be following the walk to protect living beings doing their shopping and reassure anyone concerned about the zombie invasion. Any fan of the iconic movie will be able to grab a selfie with the team.
Launched in 2014, the Zombie Walk was originally started for the benefit of both Autism Jersey and Mencap. This will be the second year zombies walk for the sole benefit of Autism Jersey.
