Sixth form Victoria College students were sent home yesterday afternoon following a confirmed case of covid.
The move, which saw students leave at 13:00 yesterday, will have them staying at home until the end of the week to allow time for contact tracing.
The student confirmed as having the virus remains in isolation.
A Government spokesperson told Express: “The sixth form students at Victoria College Jersey were sent home as a precaution following a confirmed case.
“As the students were sent home at 1pm rather than leaving school at the usual time, they were instructed to go straight home and to follow the school’s remote learning protocols. Any student who was not able to travel home independently were able to wait in the Sixth Form Centre for collection.
“Any students who have had to use public transport to go home have been urged to follow the standard public health guidance to minimise the spread of covid-19, including wearing masks while in enclosed indoors spaces, maintain physical distance, and regularly washing and sanitising their hands.
“As a precautionary measure all Sixth Form students left the school at 13:00... and will remain at home on Thursday, 19 November and Friday, 20 November to allow the Contact Tracing process to be completed.”
