The final few hours of preparation are underway before thousands of islanders descend on Howard Davis Park for a two-day music extravaganza.

Hours from now, Legends in the Park will get underway – a throwback bash, which will see the likes of Bjorn Again, Kim Wilde and Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Holly Johnson wow crowds with their vintage tunes.

Tomorrow, meanwhile, will see hit-maker Olly Murs take to the stage, accompanied by the likes of X-Factor favourites Louisa Johnson, Calum Scott and 5 After Midnight.

Express scoped out what’s in store for concertgoers this year with Stage Manager Alex.

The shows will be the culmination of efforts of around 100 people – volunteers and stage crews alike, who have worked hard over the past week to deliver and set up the contents of 15 45-ton lorries carrying the festival equipment.

Caterers will include a mixture of island favourites, including Naughty Monkeys and La Robeline Cider Company, and this year’s bar area has been expanded to ensure crowds can soend less time queing and more time boogying.

This year also includes both VIP and VVIP tickets, which will include a prime seating area, Michelin star lunch and backstage tours.

Set-up seems to have gone to plan so far, and one crucial element seems ready to fall into place: the weather. Rain nearly put a stop to Olly Murs’ set last time he performed at the charity gig, but this year the stars are set for sunshine.

Video: Stage Manager Alex shares his excitement for the event.

“We’ve sold a lot of tickets, and there’ll be a great audience – it’s going to be really busy both nights, especially for Olly Murs. We’ve got a great set-up in the park. Weather’s going to be amazing – I think it’s going to be a great event all round,” Alex explained.

Organiser of the eight-year-old event Caroline Strachan told Connect magazine of her excitement for the event, which she believes unites tourism, community and charity – with ticket profits destined for Help a Jersey Child and Brighter Futures.

"People come in fancy dress and it's just fun. Even if you don't particularly like one of the acts, it's about the whole event, because the atmosphere is just infectious. So with a glass of Pimms in one hand, and a silly wig on, the atmosphere's terrific, it's electric."
