A large-scale triathlon involving hundreds of local athletes - and over 100 entrants from Guernsey, the UK and France - is urgently calling for volunteers to help things cycle, swim and run smoothly.
A total of 40 course marshals are still needed to assist with the cycle and running course of the Accuro Jersey Triathlon.
No previous experience is required. Volunteers just need to be available for two to four hours on the morning of Sunday 16 June. They must be over the age of 18 on the day of the race, or part of a recognized group under the supervision of a leader who is 18 or more.
The organisers will provide a full briefing ahead of the event, as well as a high visibility vest.
The event, which starts at 07:00, is centred around Les Jardins de la Mer on the Waterfront in St. Helier and welcomes triathletes of all ages and abilities. Three different distances are available for adults as well as a separate Junior race that takes place just after the adults, meaning that the age range on the day will be between eight to 65 years.
The event welcomes hundreds of athletes every year. With the Gibraltar Island Games just around the corner, organisers are expecting an even larger number to visit the island to participate this year, as this could be the last race many Island Games triathletes take on before heading south.
Both the Jersey and Guernsey Triathlon Club have confirmed that a strong contingent of their triathletes will be taking on the course.

Simon Roderick, President of Jersey Triathlon Club, commented: “The event has grown from strength to strength and its great the contingents from Guernsey, UK and Europe continues to grow, but the most positive aspect is the growth of the children’s event.“
Mark Naftel, President of Guernsey Triathlon Club, added: “We have some strong contenders but also a larger number coming to Jersey for the excellent social element that the race provides us, so close to home. It’s an annual pilgrimage for our club now and always proves popular!”
Organisers have also confirmed that both the 2018 male and female champions, Richard Tanguy and Katie Silva, will be returning to defend their titles.

This year’s event will raise funds for four local charities: the Oscar Maclean Foundation, Little Feet Environmental, Mind Jersey and Silkworth Lodge.
Organisers have called upon competitors to take on one more challenge - a fourth discipline - this year and to either donate or seek sponsorship to help raise valuable funds for the charities.
Organisers are also calling on local sports enthusiasts to come down to Jersey’s Waterfront to cheer on the over 500 participants, who will be taking to the course on 16 June.
