It was standing room only at the Women's World Cup 'Fan Zone' today, as more than 100 islanders turned out to watch the Lionesses maul the Matildas.

England's women's football team secured their place in the final with a 3-1 victory over Australia.

The first goal in the match came from Ella Toone, 36 minutes in. Sam Kerr later responded at the 63-minute mark, but England responded decisively with goals from Lauren Hemp (71') and Alessia Russo (86').

Islanders young and old came together to watch the match on screens at Liberty Wharf which was decorated for the occasion with England bunting.

Among the youngest in the audience was Osian (4) with teacher mum Jessica Williams.
