Witnesses sought from Snow Hill on Saturday evening

Monday 18 August 2014

Police are looking for three young drunken men who indecently assaulted a woman, tried to grab someone off a motorbike and harassed members of the public in town on Saturday evening.

Police say that the three men – described as in their mid 20s and around 5 feet 8 inches tall – were causing trouble around the Snow Hill and Hill Street area at around 6 pm on Saturday.

Officers say anyone who was around at the time should get in touch with them.

According to police: “Three drunken males in their twenties have harassed and taunted members of the public, by causing damage to motor vehicles, indecently assaulting a female and frightening women and young children.”

They say that the indecent assault happened in the car park before the men moved down to Hill Street – one of them jumped in front of a moving car, causing a young driver to have to swerve suddenly to get out of the way.

The males then left the car park and made their way towards Hill Street, where one of them jumped out in front of a moving vehicle causing the young female driver to take evasive action and have caused her distress.

Police say if anyone can help, they should call headquarters on 612612.
