Want to be crew on the world's largest wooden sailing ship?

The world's largest wooden sailing ship is looking for deckhands to join its crew after it stops in Jersey waters.

The Götheborg of Sweden is an exact 1:1 replica of an 18th century Swedish East India Company merchant vessel that sank off Gothenburg in 1745.

It is currently undergoing a European tour, and is due to visit Jersey during the Barclays Jersey Boat Show in May.

Now islanders have the opportunity to sail as part of the Götheborg's crew. 

Anyone who wants to experience what life would have been like for an 18th century sailor - albeit with modern conveniences - can sign up to crew the Götheborg on one of its legs across Europe.

There are currently spaces aboard the Jersey to Rotterdam leg, which will see a total of nine days at sea and four at port, and the Rotterdam to Hamburg leg, which will see five days at sea and five at port. 

The Jersey to Rotterdam leg will last from the 1 May to the 13 May, and will cost £882 in total, while the Rotterdam to Hamburg leg will sail from the 13 May to the 22 May and will cost £615. Those who are interested can sign up online.
