Islanders are being encouraged to declare their love on Valentine's Day by writing a love note which will go on show in De Gruchy's King Street window.
Up until Thursday Islanders can write their free "Love Notes" at Jersey Post in Broad Street and drop them in the special St Valentine’s postbox. The initiative is part of a wider postal campaign to encourage people to send more personal mail, especially to mark special occasions such as Valentine’s Day.
Laura Pérez of Jersey Post said: “This initiative is a bit of fun and we hope Islanders will enjoy expressing their feelings in this unique way. What better way to tell someone you love them than by shouting about it?
"Of course, I am sure we will see plenty of pet names from those people who want to keep it cryptic so only the sender and receiver will know which one is for them! The lasting effect of a hand-written note or card should not be under-estimated: it’s personal, it’s great to write and it’s even better to receive.”
All the cards will be unveiled in De Gruchy’s window in an outpouring of adulation on Friday 14.
At the end of last year Jersey Post conducted an Island-wide survey to find out what sort of mail people are receiving and the results showed that most Islanders would like to receive more personal cards and letters.
